I am a new member and this is my first post. I've suffered from genetic anxiety both triggered and non triggered for a long time. I had my first panic attack 16 years ago after anaphylaxis from a wasp sting. I was told I'd probably get panic attacks as a result of the sting caused by a wasp. I was given an overdose of adreneline and now make far too much of it a lot of the time, and I've not been able to find a way to stop it. I am seeing a psychologist who says he can help me, but it's a very slow process. Previously I had seen a psychiatrist who gave me a mind altering drug normally used for bipolar and epilepsy, that I had dreadful side effects from - I wanted to drive my car off the road, as well as feeling totally spaced otu. Needless to say I stopped taking it as it was SO frightening. I'd be interested to hear from others with a similar problem, as well as being in contact with others with anxiety. 😉

Hello and welcome.
I'm sure I would have freaked out too with the excess adrenalin and the wasp and all that.
For me it started out of nowhere, but after a very stressful time. Like on a nice saturday after working hard all week. It was a rough time.
Now I'm ok for the most part. I'm on meds but I have no side effects. THANK GOODNESS!
Life is not easy but it is awesome.
🙂

Hi Margaret,

You have a good handle on what you're experiencing, and although you might struggle from time to time, this is a tremendous strength. It is so important to understand that your experience isn't random. There was a definite cause. It took me a long time to learn this in my own case, I always thought my anxiety was more meaningful than I made it out to be. Over time though, I discovered that I was a victim of a natural process and not some crazed disease.
